Beyond Endangered Species: Empowering African American Youth to Achieve

The basis upon which African American youth will become better equipped to seek higher education, maintain socially acceptable values, and strengthen the communities in which they live will come from developing the ability to make important decisions when presented with critical life options. The energy to transcend the perception of endangered species must come from an inspired belief that they have the capacity to influence the outcome of their lives through real opportunities for academic, person and economic success. This seminar offers a holistic approach to achieving this by focusing on the positive components of self-empowerment.

The Value of Differences: Appreciating Cultural Inclusion in Your Organization

The U.S. population is becoming increasingly divers, and it is to everyone's advantage to understand how these changes will impact society. This seminar provides an enhanced sensitivity to a broad range of diverist issues including: the power of stereotypes, the effects of discrimination, and suggestions for building inclusive ethnic, racial, and religious communities.

Each One, Reach One: On Becoming a Positive Role Model

This seminar identifies the true basis of positive leadership as a consistent and recognizable commitment by mentors to demonstrate responsible and ethical behavior as role models for youth.

From Boyz to Men: Concepts of Manhood

This seminar deals reversing the negative concepts of manhood often embraced by youth in this contemporary society. It offers a redefinition of the socialization process for males to help establish solid values throughout their development.

HIV/AIDS: Genocide Against People of Color?

This seminar examines the impact of the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment and other conspiracy theories on the efforts of HIV/AIDS educators to effectively promote positive lifestyle changes in the African American community, disproportionately affected by the disease. Suggestions are made for establishing an appropriate response to these issues.

The Language of Diversity: Cultivating Cultural Literacy in Your Organization

Language expresses ideas and concepts and also shapes our thoughts. Often well-intentioned people unconsciously reinforce and perpetuate prejudicial attitudes and beliefs through their use of words. This process known as micro-inequalities can have a profound impact on the corporate culture in your organization. Cultural literacy is the ability to understand, communicate and appreciate the similarities and differences in the customs, values, and beliefs of one’s own culture and the culture of others in a sensitive manner.
