Kenneth Anderson, President/CEO
Endowed Scholarship to Offer Second Chance to Calhoun Community College Students

College dean and local radio personality, Kenneth Anderson, annonced the endowment of an academic scholarship to honor his 20 years in radio broadcasting.

Since 1990, Anderson has been the host and producer of the weekly radio talk show  “2nd Chance”, heard Sundays from 2-3 pm CST on Oakwood University’s radio station, WJOU, 90.1 FM and on the Internet at www.wjou.org. The show explores a wide range of topics including community initiatives, local and national events and the people behind them. “2nd Chance” has broadcast more than a thousand shows providing information and inspiration. Hundreds of guests have shared stories of courage and stories of success in spite of tremendous odds, most involving ordinary people with extraordinary experiences who have inspired others along the way.
On November 7, 2010, the show will celebrated 20 years on the air. In recognition of this milestone, Anderson has committed to endowing a scholarship of at least $25,000 at Calhoun Community College for students who have overcome adversity in their life and desire a second chance to earn a degree or certificate. In honor of their life commitment to education, this scholarship will be established in memory of his parents and named the Jack & Annie Anderson 2nd Chance Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship will support the academic success of students at Calhoun where Anderson currently serves as Dean of Humanities & Social Sciences.
“In my experience, I have found the community college student to be one of the best in the education arena, and I want to establish a legacy that will continue to provide financial support for them for years to come,” Anderson said.

For more information about the Jack & Annie Anderson Endowed Scholarship contact Kenneth Anderson at (256) 679-4241 or send e-mail to mxlife@aol.com.  Checks and credit card payments can be made payable to the Calhoun Foundation (reference Jack & Annie Anderson 2nd Chance Scholarship), and donations to the scholarship fund are tax-deductible and will be managed by the Calhoun Foundation.
